LOCATION: Romania is member of Europe Union and is located on the Balkan Peninsula in South East Europe. It is bound by the Black Sea and Moldova to the east, Bulgaria to the south, Serbia & Montenegro and Hungary to the west as well as the Ukraine to the north and northeast..

GEOGRAPHY: In Romania on entire area,31%it is mountains (over 800 m altitude-2543 point Moldoveanu),36% hills and plateau ,33% fields.Frontier with Black Sea have 245km and Danube Delta have 3446 Sq km.The principal rivers are the Danube, Tisza, Mures, Prut, Siret and Olt Rivers. In addition, around 3,500 glacial ponds, lakes and coastal lagoons are also found throughout the country. CLIMATE: Romania has a continental climate characterized by cold snowy winters and warm summers. In the Carpathian Mountains the summers are cooler and wetter. The prevailing winds are from the north to northeast and are hot and dry during summer while in winter they are cold and severe. Average annual precipitation is 637 mm (25 inches) while average temperature ranges in Bucharest are from -2 degrees Celsius (28 degrees Fahrenheit) in winter to 21 degrees Celsius (70 degrees Fahrenheit) in summer.

LANGUAGES: The official language is Romanian which is spoken by most of the population while Hungarian and German are also widely understood.

CURRENCY: The official currency is the Leu (plural; Lei) divided into 100 bani.

The medical care in case of emergency is on request. The foreign citizens from the countries with which Romania has entered into bilateral agreements, will receive medical help according to these agreements.

-In Romania no lead gas and diesel oil are available at petrol stations in all Romanian localities.  The measurement system is the metric one, the electric voltage is of 220V to 50Hz, the television system is PAL, and the mobile telephony covers the entire Romania.

-In Romania the working week is of five days, with 40 working hours per week. Offices are open between 8-9 AM in the morning and 4-5 PM, ministries and other institutions operate between 8 AM and 5 PM. Non-working days: January 1st and 2nd (New Year), Easter’s Monday, 1^st of May, 1^st of December (National Day), December, 25^th and 26^th (Christmas).

-Do not exchange money in the street. You can do this at exchange houses oar in banks. Travel checks and credit cards are accepted by any bank. The national currency cannot be taken abroad
